About the World

In the sunbaked southern isles, plate armour is a coffin. Steel cooks the wearer within. It anchor’s sailors to the crushing depths below. The air itself breathes decay, hungry for the iron that breaks away in crude flakes. In lands ruled by humidity and salt, only bronze endures.

The seas are rough. Shallow reefs and atolls run inexperienced sailors and deeper-keeled hulls aground. Tropical storms gather strength and batter unprotected shores. Rogue waves pull those unprepared to the watery depths. Ancient spirits linger in the deepest and darkest trenches. Only those with knowledge of the tides, the currents, and the stars dare brave journeys over sea. Or at least, that was how it used to be.

Now the era of the bronze kingdoms is coming to its end. A new age of empires sits poised to rise in its place. The horizon recedes before the prow of a thousand new ships. Power, influence, trade, and technology will define the coming age. The wild waves and currents are wild no more.

The kingdoms and city states of the starlight isles were once sheltered by their isolation. They were bastions of history and tradition; dynasties dating back to the first men. Now, these kingdoms balance on the precipice of this new age. The age of kings must die to make room for the age of conquerors.

“Our people, you included, need to harden for what is to come. There will be war. Soon. Our people must rise up in defiance and forge our own future. There must be a real reckoning or we will forever live on our knees.
– Yoharum

“All my life, my enemies have been obvious. Killers, thugs, assassins. Easy to spot. A man with a knife. Direct confrontation. Kill or be killed. I wasn’t ready for the poisoned promises and knives hidden behind smiles.”
– Ohacha Krimas
