Prince of no Kingdom

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Ominous. Perfect. That’s some impressive writing.”

Prince of no kingdom, heir to no throne. Barely a man, Prince Ohacha Krimas has lived a strangely difficult, sheltered, and privileged life. Banished from his homeland, Ohacha is caught between two uncles: one who would see him crowned and another who would see him buried. Hunted by the latter’s sorcerer’s and assassins, Ohacha is forced to flee his home after annexation by the Careyago and their expansionist emperor. Now, years later, he remains on the run; hunted.

Steered by his uncle and his few remaining supporters, Ohacha is bound for the renowned gilded city; Caso. His goal is simple: fill his family’s coffers and return home with an army capable of reclaiming his ancestral throne. But Caso is a city built on more than just gold. Caso has its own secrets, debts, and lethal political machinations. Caught in the crossfire amidst Caso’s ruling class and ever-expanding imperial influence, Ohacha grasps that the power of currency is not the only currency of power. That a good leader isn’t just a person that makes decisions. To endure, Ohacha must rely on his few remaining friends and mentors and consider what he is willing to sacrifice: his morality? His friends? His crown?
